It seems a lot of people are interested in what sort of a platform is best for development. While no one can really say for sure, I can tell you that our current setup works quite well.

The main development system (specs at right) has more than enough power for most purposes. The Multi-Boot setup (Lilo) defaults to Linux for its superior stability, and excellent networking and programming support. Two other Win98 workstations, a tiny 486 Linux internet gateway, and the occasional ThinkPad also exist on the 10/100MBit network.

Also of note is KDevelop, which is an excellent programming IDE. It's incredibly configurable, well laid out, and simply looks amazing. Not only does it support (and syntax highlight) C and C++ code, but also HTML, Perl, Java, Pascal, Modula 2, Bash, and many others.
